A New Beginning for New Minds - First-Year Induction Programme, Class of 2026

Yeldo Mar Baselios College warmly welcomed the newest cohort of creative talent on July 8, 2026, as the institution hosted the First-Year Induction Programme for BA Multimedia, BA Interior Architecture & Artistry, and B.Sc. Fashion Designing. The programme-held at 10:00 AM in the Seminar Hall-marked the formal beginning of the students' academic and creative journey at YMBC. The event combined warm felicitation, institutional orientation, and inspirational addresses that set an encouraging tone for the year ahead. The formal proceedings were introduced by Mr. Amal Chandran, IQAC Coordinator, who delivered the welcome speech. He extended a heartfelt greeting to the freshers and their families, outlined the college's vision for inclusive, practice-oriented learning, and highlighted key academic milestones and support services that will guide students through their first year. Following the welcome, Ms. Chinchu V. Joy, Principal, delivered the presidential address. She emphasized about YMBC's commitment to holistic education and the college's role in shaping responsible creative professionals. She spoke directly to students about academic expectations, ethical conduct, attendance and assessment policies, and avenues for student support-while also encouraging active participation in clubs, workshops, and community projects. The college was honoured to receive Chev. Prof. Baby M. Varghese, Hon'ble Chairman, as the Guest of Honour. In his keynote inauguration address, Chev. Prof. Varghese encouraged students to embrace experimentation, resilience, and ethical practice as they pursue careers in creative fields. He underscored the importance of grounding artistry in social relevance and professional discipline, and he urged students to take full advantage of YMBC's academic resources, faculty mentorship, and industry linkages. The programme included formal introductions to the academic teams who will mentor and teach the students. Ms. Jasmin MA, Head of Department, Interior Design, presented the faculty of the Interior Architecture & Artistry programme and summarized the curriculum structure, studio culture, and practical learning opportunities such as site visits, model-making labs, and collaborative projects. Mr. Anoop, Head of Department, Multimedia, introduced the Multimedia faculty, outlined core modules -ranging from visual storytelling and editing to animation and interactive media-and emphasized the department's strong industry engagement and placement support. Mr. Andrew Samuel introduced the faculties of the Fashion Design department, described studio practice and garment labs, and invited students to participate in design labs, portfolio development sessions, and the annual fashion showcase. The college gratefully acknowledged the special role of Mr. Anandu Sudheer, Academic Head, who delivered a felicitation address. Mr. Anandu Sudheer's remarks highlighted academic rigor, curriculum coherence across departments, and the mentorship framework that will help students transition from classroom learning to professional practice. The inauguration's finale and the motivational core of the day were strengthened by the reflective remarks of Chev. Prof. Baby M. Varghese and the combined guidance of the college leadership team. Their messages reinforced YMBC's mission to nurture creativity alongside critical thinking and social responsibility. The vote of thanks was offered by Mr. Joseph P. Joseph, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, administrative staff, parents, and students for making the induction programme memorable. Mr. Joseph acknowledged the contributions of the entire organizing committee whose planning and coordination enabled a smooth and engaging event. The Induction Programme showcased YMBC's collaborative spirit and educational priorities, and it provided freshers with a clear roadmap for academic success, creative exploration, and professional readiness. The day concluded with informal interactions between students and faculty, allowing new students to ask programme-specific questions and connect with mentors and peers.
