    "Step behind the lens and feel the pulse of cinema!"

    The Department of Multimedia proudly presented SPIRIT OF CINEMA - Season 2: Hands-on Film Camera Workshop, held on 17th November 2025, at 9:30 AM in the Media Block, Yeldo Mar Baselios College. This immersive workshop offered participants an authentic dive into the analog filmmaking process, guiding them through the art and craft of real film production under the expert direction of Naseem Azad, renowned Director of Photography. Participants engaged hands-on with traditional film cameras, mastering manual controls such as aperture, shutter speed, and delicately balance the exposure triangle essential for cinematic visuals. The workshop emphasized the tactile physicality of film cameras, where learners got to load film stock, use light meters for precise exposure reading, and explore framing and composition through the lens in an analog environment, free from digital aids. Beyond technical knowledge, the workshop fostered an understanding of visual storytelling fundamentals, encouraging participants to experiment creatively with light, movement, and shot pacing to capture compelling narratives on celluloid. Students also experienced how the process of film development breathes life into raw exposure by bridging craft . This analog workflow, from camera loading to projection, instilled a deep appreciation of cinema's roots and its joyful imperfection, imbuing participants with practical filmmaking skills and a renewed cinematic sensibility. By enhancing theory, technique, and practice, the SPIRIT OF CINEMA workshop reconnected emerging filmmakers with the pulse of classical cinema, equipping them not just with tools, but with a profound respect for the art and discipline of film. This hands-on experience celebrates the rich heritage of analog filmmaking, inspiring a new generation to frame stories with intention and artistry.
