    From Awareness to Action: Campus Safety!

    Yeldo Mar Baselios College (YMBC) successfully conducted an Orientation Programme for First-Year BA Animation & Graphic Design and BA Animation & Visual Effects students on 29 July 2026 at 10:00 AM in the Theatre. The session welcomed new entrants to the YMBC community and provided practical guidance to support a safe, responsible, and successful campus life. We were honoured to host Mr. Ajesh K. P., Kerala Police Janamaithri Trainer, EKSAT, Government of Kerala (Central Region), as the resource person. Drawing on his extensive experience in youth engagement, community policing, and preventive education, Mr. Ajesh led an interactive programme aimed at empowering students to make informed choices and contribute positively to the college environment. His address emphasised personal safety, responsible behaviour, and the importance of maintaining a drug-free lifestyle as fundamental to academic and personal success. The session covered a variety of situations commonly encountered by young adults-both on and off campus-including peer pressure, digital safety and social media risks, harassment, conflict resolution, and the dangers of substance use. Mr. Ajesh used clear, relatable examples and visual representations of incidents to help students recognise risky scenarios and understand practical steps for prevention and response. These case-based illustrations translated abstract safety concepts into concrete actions, enabling students to identify warning signs and seek support when required. A highlight of the programme was its activity-based format that encouraged active student participation. Mr. Ajesh facilitated role-plays, scenario analysis, and group discussions that promoted critical thinking, communication skills, and peer support. Students engaged enthusiastically in the exercises, practised assertive responses, and explored ways to access college and community resources.
