Yeldo Mar Baselios College hosted an inspiring session titled "From Dreams to Destiny" on 29 July 2026 for first-year students of BA Animation & Graphic Design and BA Animation & Visual Effects. The programme, held at the college theatre at 1:30 PM, featured Prof. K. M. Kuriakose, retired professor and former principal of BPC College, Piravom, as the resource person. The session formed part of the department's orientation and student-development initiatives designed to motivate new students as they begin their academic and creative journeys. Prof. Kuriakose began with personal reflections on his campus life and long career in academia, using anecdotes to illustrate how purpose and passion shaped his professional path. He encouraged students to identify their own sense of purpose and to align it with their creative interests in animation and design, stressing that clarity of intention is the foundation for a meaningful and resilient career. Drawing from experience, he underscored perseverance as a critical attribute, advising students to view setbacks as learning opportunities and to sustain consistent effort even when progress feels slow. The resource person also urged students to actively engage in curricular and co-curricular activities, including workshops, competitions, and collaborative projects, as these experiences build practical skills, professional networks, and confidence. He offered pragmatic tips on time management, project planning, seeking mentorship, and balancing creative exploration with disciplined practice. A notable emphasis of the talk was on communication skills. He recommended improving vocabulary and overall language proficiency so students can present ideas clearly, prepare stronger portfolios, and enhance employability. The event concluded with students expressing renewed clarity and motivation, reflecting the session's success in providing both inspiration and practical guidance. As the session drew to a close, Kuriakose sir's words lingered as a clear call to action: let purpose guide your creativity, let passion fuel your practice, and let perseverance turn setbacks into stepping stones. Equipped with practical advice and renewed confidence, the first-year students left with a sharper sense of direction and a commitment to engage fully-in classrooms, studios, and campus life -knowing that disciplined effort, curiosity, and strong communication will transform their dreams into a meaningful destiny.
