    Alumni Voices that Inspire the Next Generation of Multimedia Creators! The Department of Multimedia at Yeldo Mar Baselios College, in association with the Multimedia Students Association, organised a special Alumni Interaction session as part of the Multimedia Students Association Media Carnival on 15th September 2026. The programme brought together two accomplished alumni, Rasna Rajan and Amal Dev C.S., whose professional journeys reflect the diverse possibilities available to students who pursue multimedia, film, writing, photography, and other creative disciplines. The session was more than a meeting between former students and the present generation. It was an inspiring homecoming that demonstrated how academic learning, creative passion, perseverance, and industry exposure can shape meaningful professional careers. The alumni returned to the college as accomplished young professionals, carrying with them valuable experiences and practical insights for aspiring multimedia creators. Rasna Rajan, a member of the 2022-2025 batch, was the first-rank holder at Mahatma Gandhi University. During her student life, she was deeply interested in photography and initially dreamed of building a career as a photographer. However, her academic journey at Yeldo Mar Baselios College introduced her to a wider range of technical and creative skills connected with the film industry. Through her education and practical exposure, she gradually developed a deeper interest in filmmaking and began her career as a short-film maker. Rasna's journey is an inspiring example of how education can expand a student's vision. While photography remained an important part of her creative identity, her experiences in the Multimedia programme helped her explore film direction, visual storytelling, production techniques, and other technical aspects of cinema. Her passion and determination enabled her to sustain herself in the film industry and continue developing as a creative professional. During the interaction, her experiences encouraged students to remain open to new possibilities and to understand that a career path may evolve naturally through experimentation. Her story also highlighted the importance of combining artistic imagination with technical competence. In the rapidly changing media and entertainment industry, creative professionals are expected to understand several aspects of production. Photography, cinematography, editing, direction, scripting, and visual communication often work together in the creation of a successful project. Rasna's transition from an aspiring photographer to a short-film maker demonstrated the value of acquiring multidisciplinary skills and responding confidently to new opportunities. The second guest, Amal Dev C.S., a member of the 2020-2023 batch, is an emerging Malayalam author and writer. He has gained recognition for his contemporary works of fiction, which combine elements of romance, friendship, mystery, emotion, and cinematic storytelling. His notable works include Abhi Anu Anandam, Nithyavan, and his latest novel, Karthi Premakavya. Abhi Anu Anandam explores college life, relationships, friendship, and love through a distinctive narrative structure with a cinematic quality. Nithyavan is a mystery-fiction novel that blends folklore, science fiction, and suspense, reflecting the author's interest in experimenting with genre and narrative form. His latest work, Karthi Premakavya, is a romantic novel that brings together love, friendship, mystery, and emotional transformation. The novel follows Karthi, whose life takes an unexpected turn after the arrival of Harsha, leading him towards new relationships and remarkable revelations. Amal's interaction with the students offered valuable perspectives on writing, storytelling, and the creative process. His journey illustrated how ideas drawn from everyday life, relationships, imagination, and personal observation can develop into compelling literary works. As a multimedia graduate, his career also demonstrated the close relationship between writing and visual media. A strong story can become a novel, short film, screenplay, web series, or other creative production when it is developed with clarity and imagination. The interaction encouraged students to recognise that multimedia education is not limited to a single profession. It can lead to opportunities in filmmaking, photography, editing, writing, direction, acting, content creation, digital media, advertising, animation, and independent creative production. The experiences shared by Rasna and Amal reminded students that success in the creative industry is built through continuous practice, adaptability, discipline, and the courage to pursue one's interests. The Alumni Interaction session became one of the significant highlights of the Multimedia Students Association Media Carnival. It created an engaging platform for students to interact with professionals who had once shared similar aspirations and challenges. The presence of Rasna Rajan and Amal Dev C.S. transformed the programme into a meaningful exchange of experiences, ideas, and encouragement. They also enable students to build portfolios and discover their individual strengths. It reminded the students that every academic journey can become the foundation for a larger professional story. Through their achievements, the alumni conveyed a powerful message: passion may begin as a dream, but dedication, learning, and perseverance can transform it into a career. The Department of Multimedia and the Multimedia Students Association expressed their appreciation to both alumni for sharing their journeys and inspiring the student community. The session concluded with renewed enthusiasm among the students, who were encouraged to explore their creative potential and prepare themselves confidently for the evolving world of media and communication.
