    Thakrithey 2K26: Celebrating the Harvest of Joy and Togetherness

    Yeldo Mar Baselios College (YMBC) celebrated Onam 2026 with great enthusiasm through Thakrithey 2K26, a vibrant celebration of Kerala's rich traditions, cultural heritage, and the spirit of togetherness. Held on 20 August 2026, the event brought the college community together for a joyful day filled with colour, laughter, music, dance, and festive cheer. The celebrations featured beautifully crafted athapookkalams, energetic folk performances, traditional games, cultural programmes, and delicious Onam delicacies. The presence of traditional cultural art forms such as Theyyam and Pulikali, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of Shinkari Melam, added grandeur and excitement to the festivities. The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Chinchu V. Joy, Principal, YMBC. Students and staff participated enthusiastically, transforming the campus into a lively space of celebration and unity. The event provided an opportunity for the YMBC family to come together and celebrate the timeless values of harmony, creativity, and shared happiness. The event overwhelmed with the distribution of prizes by the Principal, Academic Head, Heads of Departments. In the athapookkalam competition, the B.Α. Interior Design department secured the first prize, followed by B.A. Multimedia in second place and Fashion Design in third place. In the Malayali Manga Maran competition, Abhinav Surya and Joyal Keerthana emerged as winners. In the musical chair competition, Samurthi from B.A. Fashion Design won the first prize, while Maanal from B.A. Interior Design secured the second prize. In the Taste and Smell competition, Jeswin Recy from AGD won the first prize and Ashikmon Roy from B.A. Interior Design won the second prize.The Interior Design department won the first prize in the Tissue Paper Boys competition, while VFX secured the second prize. In the Tissue Paper Girls competition, Interior Design won the first prize and Multimedia secured the second prize. Adhithyan B from BA Animation and Graphic Design emerged as the winner of the Uriyadi competition. In the Tug of War competition, the Animation and Graphic Design department emerged victorious in both the boys' and girls' categories. The energetic participation of the students added excitement and enthusiasm to the celebrations. Thakrithey 2K26 beautifully captured the essence of Onam through tradition, unity, creativity, and community spirit. From the vibrant athapookalams to the excitement of the traditional games, every moment reflected the enthusiasm and talent of the YMBC family. The celebration concluded with cherished memories, joyful participation, and a renewed sense of togetherness, making Onam 2026 truly unforgettable at YMBC.
