The Designer within Personality Development: Talk Show Empowers Future Interior Professionals.

The Department of Interior Design at Yeldo Mar Baselios College successfully conducted "Unlocking Your Potential 2026", an exclusive personality development talk show designed specifically for second-year interior design students. This empowering session brought together budding designers with accomplished life coach Ms. Amrutha K Francis to explore essential strategies for self-discovery, confidence building, and personal growth-recognizing that exceptional interior designers need far more than technical proficiency. Ms. Amrutha K Francis is an ICF Certified Life Coach, Parenting Coach, and Sexuality Health Educator who serves as the visionary Founder of Better Bonds Co. Beyond her coaching practice, Ms. Francis is actively involved with "Becoming", Kerala's largest network of ICF certified coaches, where she contributes her expertise in sexuality education, parenting guidance, and life coaching. Her work emphasizes creating safe, inclusive spaces for growth and healing, bringing a compassionate yet practical approach to personal development. Ms. Francis has also appeared on multiple Malayalam podcasts including "Becoming Expert Talks" and "You in You Mindful", where she discusses topics ranging from body boundaries and consent to emotional intimacy and relationship dynamics, demonstrating her ability to facilitate honest, meaningful conversations that empower individuals. session proved highly effective for second-year interior design students at YMBC, addressing a critical gap in design education by focusing on the human dimensions of professional success. Students gained practical insights into building self-awareness and emotional intelligence-skills essential for understanding client needs, managing project relationships, and navigating the collaborative nature of interior design work. The session's emphasis on confidence building resonated particularly well with students transitioning from foundational coursework to more advanced studio projects and eventual professional practice. Ms. Francis guided participants through strategies for effective communication, helping them understand that great interior designers must inspire clients, articulate design visions clearly, and advocate for their creative decisions with conviction. The talk show format encouraged interactive dialogue, allowing students to ask questions about overcoming self-doubt, managing creative criticism, and developing the resilience needed in competitive design environments. Students reported gaining clarity on their personal strengths and areas for growth, with many expressing renewed motivation to pursue excellence not only in technical skills but in their overall professional presence. The session's timing proved strategic, as second-year students stand at a pivotal point in their academic journey-having mastered basic design principles but still needing to develop the soft skills that distinguish exceptional designers from merely competent ones. By addressing topics such as self-discovery, personal branding, and emotional strength, the program equipped students with tools to transform not just physical spaces but their own professional trajectories. The Department of Interior Design's initiative reflects its commitment to holistic education, preparing graduates who can excel in studio projects, client consultations, and the broader professional landscape of interior architecture. To our second-year interior design students as they move forward, remember that are both the architect and the space you are shaping. Invest in your personal development with the same intentionality you bring to your studio projects. Trust in their unique voice, honor , growth process, and carry the confidence that comes from knowing your worth. So when they unlock the potential within yourself, you unlock the ability to create not just beautiful interiors, but meaningful experiences that touch lives. The Department of Interior Design at Yeldo Mar Baselios College remains committed to this holistic vision of education-where technical skill meets and personal empowerment.
